The SZI database and related content (visualisation, artwork, software) is made freely available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, meaning that you are free to share and adapt the content as long as appropriate credit is given, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use. You may also not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the current license permits.

The subduction zone initiation (SZI) database is an incomplete compilation of SZI data from the Earth and ​most database entries are based on previously published literature.
